  • THE MONSANTO COMPANY PROPOSED TWO PITS. THE COMBINED PIT LENGTHS TOTAL 5300 METERS LONG. PIT WIDTHS WILL AVERAGE 120-240 METERS WIDE (AVERAGE 148 METERS). THE PIT DEPTH WILL BE UP TO 110 METERS DEEP, BUT AVERAGING 76 METERS. TOTAL AREA DISTURBED WILL BE 285 HECTARES, 79 FOR PITS, 136 FOR DUMPS, 32 FOR ROADS, AND 38 HECTARES FOR SAFETY AND WATER CONTROL MEASURES.
