Comments on the location information

  • OCCASIONALLY, WE FIND MINES, QUARRIES, ETC. AS REPORTED IN WDMG BULL. 37 WHOSE REPORTED LOCATIONS MAKE NO SENSE WHATSOEVER; THIS IS ONE OF THESE RECORDS. FOR EXAMPLE, THERE IS NO HIGHWAY NEAR THAT WOULD LEAD US TO BELIEVE THAT THE WA. DEPT. OF HIGHWAYS HAD ANY REASON TO HAVE A QUARRY NEARBY. SECONDLY, THE REPORTED LOCATION IS IN AN UNSURVEYED TOWN- SHIP. THIRDLY, THERE IS PRECIOUS LITTLE EVIDENCE, BASED ON SIMILAR REPORTED SITES, THAT THE DEPT. OF HIGHWAYS HAD THE FOGGIEST IDEA THEY KNEW EXACTLY WHERE THEY WERE ON THE GROUND. AND LAST, BUT NOT LEAST, THERE IS THE DISTINCT POSSIBILITY THAT A TRANSPOSITION OCCURRED IN THE LEGAL DESCRIPTION AND THAT ITS LOCATION IS WRONG. THEREFORE, THE ACCURACY OF THIS RECORD CAN BE CONSIDERED AS A SCIENTIFIC WILD-ASS GUESS, AT BEST.
