  • THE MINING METHODS AT CATAVI ARE OVERHAND, OPEN STOPING (10%) AND BLOCK CAVING (90%). OPEN STOPING IS USED IN AREAS WHERE THE VEINS HAVE A LARGE CASSITERITE CONTENT. BLOCK CAVING IS USED IN THE SMALLER VEINS WHERE THE CASSITERITE IS IMPREGNATED IN THE ROCK. THE MINE IS DIVIDED INTO TWO PARTS: NORTH AND SOUTH. THE NORTH CONTAINS THE SECTIONS SIGLO XX AND BEZA; IN THE SOUTHERN PART OF THE WORKING SECTIONS ARE ANIMAS, LAGUNA AND SALVADORA.
  • THE COST AND CAPACITY INFORMATION LISTED ARE FOR THE YEAR 1982, WHEN THE PROPERTY WAS IN FULL PRODUCTION. IT IS ESTIMATED THAT THIS PROPERTY WILL END PRODUCTION IN THE YEAR 1983.
  • THERE ARE FOUR PLANTS AT CATAVI: THE HMS PLANT; THE MILLS, TABLES AND FLOTATION AT THE VICTORIA PLANT; PLANT C-4 FORMERLY KRAUT PLANT AND THE KENKO PLANT. THE HMS PLANT CRUSHES RUN OF MINE ORE LESS THAN 30 CM. THE VICTORIA MILL RECEIVES MATERIAL LESS THAN 3.2 CM AND CONTRACTOR MATERIAL WITH GRADES IN EXCESS OF 1% SN. PURCHASED ORE, TAILS AND SOME MATERIAL FROM THE HMS PLANT ARE TREATED AT THE C-4 PLANT. THE KENKO PLANT TREATS OLD TAILINGS FROM LAKE KENKO.
