  • ORE ZONE DIPS GENTLY NORTH. MANTLE-LIKE ORE BODIES ARE THIN ON TOPS OF HILLS AND THICK ON SLOPES. BAUXITE BOULDERS AND SLABS ARE SURROUNDED BY FERRUGINOUS AND LATERITIC CEMENT. BAUXITE CONTAINS 48.4% ALUMINA, 3.1% SILICA, AND 20.2% IRON OXIDE. THE LATERITIC PROFILE IS COMPOSED OF 2.1 METERS OF HUMUS- RICH SOIL AND FERRUGINOUS DEBRIS, 1-27 METERS OF FERROGINOUS BAUXITE AND AN UNDERLYING LAYER OF KAOLINITIC CLAY.
