  • THE FERRONICKEL SMELTER HAS A CAPACITY OF 1,000 METRIC TONS PER YEAR OF FERRONICKEL. LOCAL LATERITIC ORE IS USED AS FE-NI FEED. THE LATERITE ORE FROM THE URAL REGION HAS AN AVERAGE 1.0 PERCENT NICKEL GRADE. NI-CO FEED COMES OUT OF CUBA CONTAINING 50 PERCENT NI PLUS CO. THE CUBAN FEED IS PROCESSED ON TOLL BASIS. THE TONNAGE PROCESSED WAS REDUCED IN 1992.
