  • IN ADDITION TO THE MINING UNIT, A JOINT VENTURE WITH NEWMONT TO RECOVER GOLD FROM LOW-GRADE OVERBURDEN BY HEAP-LEACH EXTRACTION WAS INITIATED IN 1993. TECHNOLOGY AND EXPERIENCE SUPPLIED BY NEWMONT. PRODUCTION IS SCHEDULED TO START IN 1995. PRODUCTION OF TAILINGS SHOULD REACH 310,000 OZ/YR. LIFE OF PROJECT 16 YRS. GOLD TO BE SOLD TO INTERNATIONAL MARKETS. DURING FIRST 4 YRS, PRODUCTION WOULD BE 450,000 OZ/YR, PROCESSING HIGHER GRADE ORE. REMAINING YEARS WOULD OPERATED AT ABOUT 240,000 OZ/YR. AS OF JAN. 1995, OPERATIONS TO BEGIN MAY 1995.
  • RESOURCE POTENTIAL OF TAILINGS AREA IS 30,000,000 MT AT MINIMUM AU GRADE OF 1.09 GM/T. TOTAL EXTRACTION POTENTIAL IS 8.7 MILLION OZ AU.
