  • COORDINATES ARE AS GIVEN BY PARGETER. CO-ORDINATES PLACE IT ABOUT 68 KM SW OF MBARARA. BERYL-COLUMBITE-TANTALITE PEGMATITE. PRODUCER SINCE BEFORE 1950. OPENED UP IN A MORE SYSTEMATIC MANNER IN 1950. ESTIMATED 16.5 TONS OF COLUMBITE RECOVERED BY 1950 A 43 M ADIT HAD BEEN DRIVEN THROUGH THE ORE BODY. (LAST 19.2 M IN ORE BODY AND STILL IN IT AT END). FIRST 3 M OF OREBODY IS SHEETED,CONSISTING OF ALTERNATE BANDS OF MUSCOVITE AND A FINE WHITE KAOLIN-SERICITE AGGREGATE. NEXT 6.1 M IS THE QUARTZ LENS WHICH IS PENETRATED BY SEAMS UP TO 0.15 M THICK OF HARD, FINE-GRAINED GREENISH MUSCOVITE. COLUMBITE FOUND ALONG SOUTH WALL OF QUARTZ- INTERMIXED WITH MICA AND KAOLIN. REMAINING 10.1 M IN HOMOGENOUS, MEDIUM GRAINED MUSCOVITE.
