Deposit THE KAMBALDA OPERATIONS ARE ADJACENT TO THE KAMBALDA NICKEL OPERATIONS, ON THE SHORES OF LAKE LEFROY, ABOUT 70 KM SOUTH OF KALGOORLIE, WA. A CARBON-IN-PULP CIRCUIT WAS CONSTRUCTED AT THE PREEXISTING ST. IVES PLANT, FED BY A 5,000 KL/DAY WATER PIPELINE. THE LEACH CIRCUIT HAS A DESIGN CAP. OF (AS OF MAY 1988) 2 MMTPA. THE OPERATIONS CONSIST OF A NUMBER OF SURFACE AND UNDERGROUND WORKINGS. THE GOLD BEARING HOST IS THE DEFIANCE DOLERITE AND IS STRATIGRAPHICALLY ABOVE THE NICKEL BEARING KAMBALDA KOMATITE. GOLD OCCURS IN QUARTZ VEINS, BRECCIA ZONES, AND MYLONITIC SHEAR ZONES.
