Deposit THIS STUDY IS BASED ON A GENERAL AVG. PRODUCTION COST FOR 6 PLANTS OPERATING ON THE MESABI RANGE. THE COSTS USED ARE FO ONLY AND INCLUDES HIGHLY VARIABLE AMOUNTS FOR THE ORIGINAL COST FOR PLANT CONSTRUCTION AND FOR PARTIAL AMORTIZATION OF CONSTRUCTION COST. THE AVG. COST FOR THE PRODUCTION OF ONE TAC. PELLETS IS ESTIMATED TO BE $14.95/TON. THE ACTUAL COST EACH TACONITE PLANT WILL VARY FROM THIS AMOUNT. AN AVG. CAP COST PER ANNUAL TON OF PLANT CAPACITY OF $22.00/TON IS USED AVG. VALUE OF MESABI RANGE TAC. PELLETS AT THE PLANT IN 197 AVERAGED $16.65/L.T. THE ESTIMATED CAPITAL COST FOR NEW PLANT CONSTRUCTION IN 19 REPORTED BY E. LEACH OF THE BETHLEHEM STEEL CORPORATION TO ABOUT $50.00 PER ANNUAL TON OF PELLET CAPACITY.
