BULL 17 - EARLY EXPLORATION, ECON. ANG GANGUE DATA. RECORD 030/ LOCATION MADE WITH REFERENCE TO THE TULLIDGE CUT MINE ACTIVITY HAS BEEN MOST CONCENTRATED. OTHER DEVELOPED A INCLUDE THE KIDNEY CUT (UTM N 4201320, E 676590) AND THE TUR CUT ON THE BIG LEVELS 7.5 TOPO (UTM N 4201020, E 675600) RECORD.040/ A CREEK ON THE PROPERTY WAS DAMMED TO FORM A RES DEPOSIT IS 13 MILES SOUTH OF WAYNESBORO VA. AND IS WITHIN TH GEORGE WASHINGTON NATIONAL FOREST TRAILS & CAMPGROUNDS ARE I MAX. AREA DISTURBED WAS ROUGHLY MEASURED FROM THE MINE MAPS 940-F AND THE CONFID. REPT. AND IT INCLUDES THE 3 MAIN WORKI THE ROADS CONNECTING THEM. RECORD 050/ THE DEPOSIT WAS EXAMINED AND SAMPLED BY THE BURE MINES (1940) AND PIERCE (1943). METH 1-4 BEFORE 1893. RECORD 060/ SANDSTONE IS BRECCIATED. RECORD 071/ COBALT IS ADSORBED ON CRYPTOMELANE AND WAS DEPOS GROUND WATER. ONE SAMPLE CONTAINED 0.36% CO.(REC 703) AND WA ORE CONTAINED 42-48% MN, 5% FE, 4-6% SILICA, & 0.08% PHOS.(R RECORD 080 / MN AND FE OXIDES OCCUR AS NODULES IN RESIDUAL C AS FRACTURE FILLINGS AND REPLACEMENTS IN SANDSTONE. THE DEPOSIT IS SITUATED IN A NE PLUNGING SYNCLINE THAT IS TO GRAPHICALLY EXPRESSED AS A VALLEY WITH RIDGES OF ANTIETAM QU AT KIDNEY CUT ORE OCCURS AS NODULES IN CLAY AND SANDSTONE AN IMPREGNATIONS ALONG JOINTS AND BEDDING PLANES. AT TURKEY PEN IN SMALL VEINS, LUMPS, & NODULES IN RED AND YELLOW CLAYS CLO THE ANTIETAM CONTACT. THE LOWER WORKINGS (TULLIDGE) EXHIBIT SEAMS AND CEMENTING MATATERIAL IN A BRECCIA OF ANGULAR, OFTE ENSIDED CHERT FRAGS AND PARTIALLY ALTERED OOLITIC LS. ADJACE THIS ZONE PATCHES OF PYROLUCITE AND PSILOMELANE OCCUR IN RED YELLOW CLAYS. THE PRINCIPAL MIN IS PSILOMELANE OCCURRING IN OIDAL NODULES AND SOLID IRREGULAR CORD LIKE MASSESS 6 IN THI A FT OR MORE IN LENGTH. REPLACEMENT OCCURS IN VARYING PEG AN VEINS OF PSILOMELANE PENETRATE LIMONITE. DEPOSIT DIMENSIONS WERE TAKEN FROM REC 701 AND STRIKE WAS ESTMATED TREND OF STRUCTURE ON TOPO MAP.
