Comments on the geologic information

  • THE ARAXA CARBONATITE COMPLEX IS APPROXIMATELY CIRCULAR AND ABOUT 4.5 KM IN DIAMETER AT THE SURFACE. THE HIGHEST COLUMBIUM CONCENTRATION IS LOCATED IN THE CENTRAL PART OF THE STRUCTURE, AND IS CIRCULAR IN SHAPE, AND HAS A DIAMETER OF 1800 METERS. THE COLUMBIUM MINERALIZATION IS A RESULT OF DEEP WEATHERING AND INTENCE RESIDUAL ENRICHMENT FROM THE ORIGINAL CARBONATITE. IN THE CENTRAL COLUMBIUM MINERALIZATION ZONE WEATHERING REACHED TO AN AVERAGE DEPTH OF 150 METERS. THE ORE IS CAPED BY A LAYER OF OVERBURDEN RANGING IN THICKNESS FROM 0.5 TO 40 METERS.
  • THE MINERAL PANDAITE IS A MAJOR CONSTITUENT OF THE PYROCHLORE ORE.
