Comments on the reserve resource information

  • THE TWO KARELIAN DEPOSITS, WHICH ARE THE KOSTOMUKSHA AND THE KORPANSKOE DEPOSITS, HAVE AN OVERALL RESERVE OF 1,435 MILLION METRIC TONS OF IRON ORE, WITH AN AVERAGE IRON CONTENT OF 32.2 PERCENT. BOTH DEPOSITS ARE DEVELOPED BY THE KOSTOMUKSHSKOE PLANT, WHICH PRODUCED AN AVERAGE 24 MILLION METRIC TONS OF IRON ORE PER YEAR.

Deposit IN RUSSIA, THE BIGGEST EXPORTER IS THE KOSTOMUKSHA MINE IN KARELIA, WHICH SUPPLIES FINNISH STEELMAKER RAUTARUUKKI. IT WAS LARGELY THROUGH FINNISH EXPERTISE THAT THE KOSTOMUKSHA MINE AND THE KOSTOMUKSHA PELLETIZER WAS SET UP IN THE 1980S.
