Deposit THE FUSHIN SMELTER UTILIZES THE SODERBERG METHOD OF AL REDUCTION. BAUXITE ORE IS OBTAINED FROM THE FUSHIN BAUXITE MINE (SEQ. NO. 5700350013) AND IS TREATED IN THE FUSHIN ALUMINA REFINERY (SEQ. NO. 5700352001), TO OBTAIN FEED FOR THIS SMELTER. OTHER PRODUCTS PRODUCED ARE MAGNESIUM, SILICON, AND TITANIUM. MAGNESIUM METAL IS PRODUCED ELECTROLYTICALLY BY BY THE REDUCTION OF ANHYDROUS MAGNESIUM CHLORIDE WITH GRAPHITE ELECTRODES. TITANIUM METAL IS PRODUCED BY THE KROLL METHOD (REDUCTION OF TITANIUM TETRACHLORIDE WITH MAGNESIUM METAL). ANNUAL PRODUCTION IS LESS THAN 1000 TONS MG AND LESS THAN 500 TONS TI. THE MAGNESIUM AND TITANIUM PLANTS ARE CURRENTLY UNDER MODIFICATION. FUSHIN EMPLOYS ABOUT 11,000 PEOPLE. 100,000 TPY ALUMINUM REDUCTION PLANT.
