  • APATITE IS ACTUALLY FLUORAPATITE SAND-SIZED INTERCLASTIC PHOSPHORITE PREDOMINATES THE DEPOSIT TOGETHER WITH A PELLETAL VARIETY, WHICH IS FOUND MAINLY IN THE UPPER PORTIONS OF BOTH PHOSPHORITE UNITS.

Deposit SURFACE MINE PRODUCES 1.5 MILLION T/YR OF 22% TO 39% P2O5 ROCK FROM THREE ORE HORIZONS IN THE LOWER CAMBRIAN YUHUCUN FORMATION. DISCOVERED IN 1939, THE KUNYANG MINE STARTED PRODUCTION IN 1966 NEAR THE VILLAGE OF MEISHUCUN, WEST OF DIAN CHI LAKE. RESERVES ARE AT LEAST 42 MILLION MT TONS.
