Deposit THE BOR SMELTER IS SUPPLIED EXCLUSIVELY BY THE MAJDANEK AND BOR MINES. IT IS LIKELY THAT THE SMELTER CAPACITY OF 160000 MT CU/YR WILL BE INCREASED WHEN THE BUCIM, VELIKI KRIVELU, AND MOUNT STARICA MINES ARE PRODUCING. THE BLISTER CU IS REFINED AT THE BOR REFINERY. THE BOR SMELTER COMPLEX CONSISTS OF TWO FLUO-SOLID REACTORS, TWO REVERBERATORY FURNACES, FOUR PIERCE-SMITH CONVERTERS, THREE ROTARY ANODE FURNACES, TWO ANODE CASTING WHEELS, AND THREE ACID PLANTS. CURRENT CAPACITY OF THE SMELTER IS 160,000 MTPA COPPER ANODE. ACID PRODUCTION IS 602,000 MTPA 98% H2SO4. AT PRESENT (1991), SO2 EMMISIONS FROM THE BOR SMELTER ARE RELATIVELY HIGH, AND THE SURROUNDING TOWN IS BADLY POLLUTED.
