Comments on other economic factors

  • THE MINE IS SERVED BY ONE MAIN SHAFT, FULLY CONCRETE LINED WITH AN INTERNAL DIAMETER OF 5.5M. ORE IS HOISTED IN 5T MINE CARS. THERE IS AN AUXILLIARY SHAFT WITH AN INTERNAL DIAMETER OF 4M. THERE ARE TWO 3.5M DIAMETER VENTILATION SHAFTS, ONE AT EACH END OF THE OREBODY. THE MINE WAS REHABILITATED IN 1986-88 BY CHANGING FROM SUB-LEVEL CAVING TO CUT AND FILL BECAUSE OF EXCESSIVE WASTE ROCK DILUTION, ORE LOSSES AND STABILITY PROBLEMS. ALL EQUIPMENT FOR DRILLING AND LOADING IS PNEUMATIC. ALL UNDERGROUND EQUIPMENT IS LOCALLY MADE EXCEPT 8 WAGNER EHST-1 SCOOPTRAMS DELIVERED IN 1985.
