Comments on other economic factors

  • ACCORDING TO REGISTER OF AUSTRALIAN MINING, 1980ED., IN 1975 A SHAFT WAS SUNK DOWN TO 830M FROM 282M. TO DEVELOP THE DEPOSIT THE SHAFT WOULD REQUIRE DEEPENING FROM 830M TO 914M AND A SECOND SHAFT WOULD NEED TO BE SUNK FROM 282M LEVEL TO 914M LEVEL. FURTHER DEVELOPMENT WOULD INCLUDE DRIFTS, RAISES STOPES AND CORE DRILLING. SINCE THE MINE HAS NOT BEEN OPERATED SINCE 1952, ANY REMAINING MINE EQUIPMENT OR MINE PLANT IS DEEMED UNUSABLE. ALSO, THE MINE ONLY PRODUCED 709,769 TONS OF ORE FROM 1887 TO 1952.
