| Deposit | CAHOON CR GOLD MINING CO. STAKED CLAIMS, BEGAN WORK IN 1908. HYDRAULICKING PRODUCTIVE UNTIL AT LEAST 1922 THEN ABANDONED. UPPER CAHOON CREEK WORKED WITH LITTLE SUCCESS AND ABANDONED. NEW CLAIMS STAKED 1962 & 1974. CLAIMS ACTIVE 1976. EARLY PLACERS EXTENDED BEYOND MOUTH OF CAHOON CR ABOUT 2000 FT DOWN MCKINLEY CREEK. NEW CLAIMS FARTHER UP CAHOON CREEK. PRODUCTION OF CAHOON, MCKINLEY & PORCUPINE CREEKS 1898 THRU 1916 YIELDED $1,200,000 AU. NO BREAKDOWN AVAILABLE. 1902-3 small hydraulic plant operated at the face of Cahoon Glacier but was unsuccessful. 1908-13 Cahoon Creek Mining Co. mined the lower 0.5 mile section of Cahoon Creek.. 1913-85 hand methods were used to prospect the creek in more years, but the results are unknown. |
