Comments on the geologic information

  • THE PROPERTY LIES WITHIN A BELT OF PRECAMBRIAN SEDIMENTARY, VOLCANIC, AND INTRUSIVE ROCKS THAT EXTEND FROM CAPE SMITH TO WAKEHAM BAY. THE INTRUSIVES CONSIST OF SILL-LIKE BODIES OF GABBRO, PERIDOTITE, AND SERPENTENITE THAT CUT THE OLDER SEDIMENTARY AND VOLCANIC ROCKS. THE NICKEL-COPPER DEPOSITS ARE IN THE FORM OF VEINS, AND ARE CALLED THE DAVIDSON NO.1 NO. 2 AND NO. 3 VEINS. THE THREE VEINS ARE NEARLY PARALLEL AND ABOUT 305 METERS APART. THE NO. 1 VEIN EXHIBITS SOME SYNCLINAL FOLDING. NICKEL-COPPER VALUES ARE CONCENTRATED NEAR THE BOTTOM OF THE PERIDOTITE SILL, CLOSE TO THE FOOTWALL SEDIMENTS.
  • THE AGGREGATE STRIKE LENGTH OF THE NICKEL-COPPER VEINS IS ABOUT 3 KM, WITH THE LARGEST TRACED FOR 1097 METERS WITH AN INDICATED WIDTH OF 11 METERS.
