Comments on the geologic information

  • THE MAJORITY OF THE CYPRUS PYRITE/COPPER/ZINC SULFIDE MINERAL DEPOSITS ARE VERTICALLY ZONED: CONSISTING OF THREE ZONES; ZONE A, A MASSIVE SULFIDE ORE; ZONE B, A SILICEOUS SULFIDE ORE; AND ZONE B, A STOCKWORK ORE. ZONE A, IS THE MAIN ECONOMIC ORE, CONTAINING PYRITE, AT AROUND 40% SULFUR. THIS IS HARD COMPACT ORE OVERLAIN BY A POROUS CONGLOMERATIC ORE. THE MAIN MINERAL IS PYRITE WITH VARYING AMOUNTS OF CHALCOPYRITE AND SPHALERITE. ZONE B IS THE SILICEOUS-SULFIDE ORE MIX. PYRITE RANGES FROM 30% TO 40% SULFUR, WITH LESSER AMOUNTS OF CHALCO- PYRITE AND SPHALERITE. ZONE IS THE STOCKWORK ORE, COMPOSED OF MOSTLY PYRITE AT LESS THAN 20% SULFUR AND CHALCOPYRITE.
