Comments on the reserve resource information

  • RESERVES ARE SUFFICIENT FOR A FURTHER 14 YEARS, WHICH YIELDS ABOUT 20 MILLION METRIC TONS OF TOTAL RESERVES. ORE GRADES ARE EXPECTED TO DECLINE TO 0.8 PERCENT COPPER BY 1995. RESERVES REPORTED TO CONTAIN 350,000 MT CU, 40 MT AU, 150 MT AG, 200 MT TE, MORE THAN 2 MILLION MT S.
  • MINE 75KM SW OF TSIBLI NO GOLD OR SILVER IS CURRENTLY BEING RECOVERED, ALTHOUGH IT COULD BE RECOVERED WITH PROPER TECHNOLOGY.

Comments on other economic factors

  • ALL ORE IS DELIVERED BY ROAD TO THE MADNEULI CONCENTRATOR, 6 KILOMETERS FROM THE MINE.
  • THE DEPOSIT IS MINED BY OPEN PIT METHODS. THE PIT IS CURRENTLY 1.2 SQUARE KILOMETERS IN AREA. ITS PLANNED DEPTH IS 320 TO 350 METERS. MINING IS COMPLICATED BY INTENSIVE FAULTING AND FRACTURING. COMPLEX ORES ARE STOCKPILED AS THERE IS CURRENTLY NO SUITABLE TECHNOLOGY AVAILABLE TO TREAT THEM. THE MINE USES 8 CUBIC METER ELECTRIC SHOVELS, 40 TON BELAZ 548 DUMP TRUCKS AND SOVIET ROLLER-BIT DRILLING RIGS. THERE ARE NO PLANS TO EXPAND THE MINE. ORE EXPLORED TO 36M DEPTH MAX. PIT DEPTH WILL BE 160M.
