Comments on the reserve resource information

  • SIDERITE IS PRIMARY ORE AND LIMONITE IS SECONDARY ORE. THE MINE CONSISTS OF 3 EXPLOITED OREBODIES: THE LJUBIJA, THE TOMRSICA, AND THE OMARSKA. ORE QUALITY VARIES WIDELY AND IS QUITE VARIABLE. SIDERITE ORE ASSAYS 1.82 PERCENT MANGANESE, 8.3 PERCENT SIO2, AND 37.7 PERCENT IRON. THE LIMONITE ORE ASSAYS 1.99 PERCENT MANGANESE, 10.7 PERCENT SIO2, AND 46.6 PERCENT IRON.

Comments on other economic factors

  • THE LJUBIJA AND OMARSKA OREBODIES HAVE THEIR OWN CONCENTRATORS. THE ORE FROM THE TOMRSICA MINE IS ONLY CRUSHED AND DRIED. THE OTHER TWO MINES UTILIZE SPIRALS AND THE OMARSKA PLANT USES MAGNETIC SEPARATION. MOST OF THE EQUIPMENT IS OF RUSSIAN ORIGIN. COMBINED, THESE MINES ARE THE LARGEST PRODUCERS OF IRON ORE FOR YUGOSLAVIA. AVERAGE CONCENTRATE GRADE IS 50 PERCENT IRON. DISTRIBUTION OF PRODUCT OUTPUT TO STEELWORKS IS AS FOLLOWS: ZENICA STEELWORKS GETS 65 PERCENT, SMEDREVO GETS 23 PERCENT, SISAK GETS 9 PERCENT, AND VARES GETS 3 PERCENT.
