  • PLACER EXPECTS TO COMPLETE A FEASIBILITY STUDY IN 1996 PLACER DOME EXPECTS TO COMPLETE ITS FEASIBILITY AND MAKE A DEVELOPMENT DECISION ON THE MULATOS GOLD PROJECT IN SONORA, MEXICO, BY THE END OF THIS MONTH (9/97). THE DEPOSIT HOSTS A GOLD RESOURCE OF AROUND 2 M OZ, OF WHICH, 1.25 M OZ COULD BE RECOVERED BY HEAP LEACHING OVER AN 8-YEAR PERIOD. IN ADDITION, THE PROJECT COULD ALSO RECOVER UP TO 785,000 OZ OF SILVER. PLACER HOLDS A 70% STAKE IN THE PROJECT, WITH RIO TINTO SUBSIDIARY, KENNECOTT, HOLDING THE REMAINING 30%
