  • ABOUT 1.25 MT RUN OF MINE BAUXITE TO PRODUCE 1 MT CRUSHED & WASH BAUXITE PRODUCT. GRADE RANGE 48.7-52.7% AL2O3, 0.44-2.4% SIO2 ALSO KNOWN AS AFFOH DEPOSITS, SEFNAI, BAKWAI. OWNER IS 55% GHANA GOVT.; 45% KAISER ALUMINUM CORP. RESERVES INCLUDE THE ICHISMO, SUPIRRI, BOKA KHURRI, AND AFUMBA ORE ZONES. THE KANAIYERIBO AREA IS DEPLETED. MODIFICATIONS TO THE RAIL TRANSPORT SYSTEM WAS COMPLETED IN 1992, ALLOWING INCREASED PRODUCTION. PRODUCTION IS EXPECTED TO INCREASE TO 500,000 MTPY BY 1995. IMPROVEMENTS INCLUDE PORT LOADING FACILITIES AND REPLACING CONVEYORS.
