Comments on the location information

  • DEPOSIT LOCATED ABOUT 85 KM SE OF CITY OF JUAZEIRO AND 45 KM NE OF TOWN OF JAGUARARI. BR130 COMES WITHIN 40 KM OF DEPOSIT(SW OF ROAD) AND MAJOR JUAZEIRO TO SALVADOR RAIL ROAD IS ONLY 30 KM W OF DEPOSIT. NOTE: THIS ECONOMIC STUDY IS BASED ON THE DETAILED FEAS. STUDY DONE IN 1976/1977 WHICH GAVE RESERVES AS 36,000,000 MT AT 1.5% CU FOR SURFACE MINING(TO A DEPTH OF 200 M) AND 54,000,000 MT AT 1.3% CU FOR UG RESERVE (PROD. SHAFT TO 450 M DEPTH). SEVERAL RECENT SOURCES CAUSED SOME RESER- VATIONS ABOUT THE 1977 DATA. FOR EXAMPLE, E/MJ OF JAN. 1980 MENTIONS TOTAL RESERVE AT 126,000,000 MT AT ABOUT 1% CU AND SHAFT TO 807 M. ANOTHER SOURCE GIVES TOTAL RESERVE AS 169,000,000 MT AT 1% CU. NEITHER SOURCE GIVES A BREAKDOWN FOR RESERVES AS RECOVERABLE OR SURFACE AND UG. BASED ON KNOWN DIMENSIONS, THE OLD 1977 RESERVE FIGURES MATCH WITH THE DIMENSIONS AND THUS IT WAS DECIDED TO BASE STUDY ON OLD SUR/UG RESERVE FIGURES AND MINING UG TO DEPTH OF 450 M. CARAIBA METAIS,S. A. IS A 100% SUBSID OF FIBASE WHICH IN TUR IS OWNED BY BANCO NACIONAL DE DESENVOLVIMIENTO ECONOMICO (BNDE). MINERALIZATION IS WEAK AND DISSEMINATED IN AMPHIBOLITE & GABBRO. MAJOR MINERALIZATION IS IN NORITE-PYROXENITE. DIMENSIONS OF ORE BODY(LGT & WIDTH) ARE OF MINERALIZED ZONE OF WHICH ABOUT 50% CONTAINS MINERALIZED MAFIC DIKES(SEV- ERAL). MINERALIZATION KNOWN TO A DEPTH OF 600 M. EXPLORATION CONCESSION COVERS A 110 X 110 KM AREA. THERE ARE OTHER DEPOSITS IN AREA BUT NOT WELL EXPLORED. AU&AG GRADES EST.BASED ON EXPECTED PROD. AMOUNTS ASSUMING 60% RECOVERY FOR EACH. A DILUTION OF 22% HAS BEEN ASSUMED FOR UG ORE BASED ON COMPARISON OF REPORTED IN-SITU GRADES AND EXPECTED FEED GRADE AND MINING METHOD TO BE USED. WORKING CAPITALS BASED ON 60 DAYS OPERATION. PROPERTY ACQUIRED BY FIBASE FROM PIGNATARI GROUP IN 1974. ACQ. COST ASSUMED. EXPL.COSTS ARE BASICALLY FOR FEASIBILITY STUDIES.
