Environmental Factors NO MILL TAILINGS WERE OBSERVED AT THIS SITE DURING THE INVESTIGATION. TWO DISCHARGING ADITS AND ONE DISCHARGING SHAFT WERE IDENTIFIED. MAXIMUM CONTAMINANT LEVELS FOR CADMIUM AND NICKEL WERE EXCEEDED IN THE SHAFT DISCHARGE. INTERMITTENT COMPROMISE GULCH FLOWED DIRECTLY THROUGH THE SITE. DOWNSTREAM IRON, MANGANESE, NICKEL, AND ZINC CONCENTRATIONS WERE ELEVATED AT LEAST THREE TIMES THE UPSTREAM CONCENTRATIONS, BUT WERE NOT SIGNIFICANTLY ELEVATED IN THE SOURCE SAMPLES AND THUS NOT DIRECTLY ATTRIBUTABLE TO THIS SITE. AN OBSERVED RELEASE TO COMPROMISE GULCH WAS DOCUMENTED FOR ARSENIC (SEDIMENT). ONE POTENTIALLY HAZARDOUS MINE OPEN (SHAFT #1, FENCED) WAS IDENTIFIED AT THE SITE.
