Deposit MINE PERMANENTLY CLOSED IN EARLY 1992 - ORE RESERVE DEPLETED. IRON MTN MINE CONSISTS OF 3 DEPOSITS: CHESAPEAKE ORE BODY: DESCRIBED AS A FISSURE VEIN DEPOSIT IN QTZ MONZONITE PORPHYRY ON EAST SLOPE OF IRON MTN. THE MAIN VEIN CAN BE TRACED FOR 640 M. TWO VEINS ARE PRESENT FOR MORE THAN 1/2 THE STRIKE DISTANCE AND HAVE BEEN CUT BY 2 NW- TRENDING FAULTS. VEINS VARY FROM ABOUT 0.61 - 3 M IN WIDTH, WITH AN AVERAGE THICKNESS OF 1.2 M. EXCELSIOR ORE BODY: ALSO LOCATED HIGH ON EAST SIDE OF IRON MT. ORE BODY IS FISSURE VEIN 300 M LONG, 0.61 - 6.1 M WIDE. IT IS CUT BY 3 NE-TRENDING FAULTS, WHICH OFFSET THE VEIN. TIP TOP: FISSURE VEIN IN QTZ MONZONITE POR- PHYRY LOCATED NEAR TOP OF IRON MT. VEIN IS ABOUT 240 M LONG AND 0.61 TO 9.1 M WIDE. (SEE IRON DEPOSITS OF UTAH BY BULLOCK, K. C. UTAH GEOL. & MIN. SURVEY BULL. 88, DEC. 1970, PP. 44, 48, & 54.)
