| Deposit | LOCATION BASED ON DEFENSE MAPPING AGENCY MAP ONC C-2. *A HURRICANE BLOWING AT 50 M/SEC (112 MPH) ACROSS THE KOLA PENINSULA CAUSED EXTENSIVE DAMAGE TO POWER PLANTS AND PORT FACILITIES. NICKEL PRODUCTION WAS NOT AFFECTED AS THE PLANT WAS RUNNING AT 50% CAPACITY DUE TO POOR DOMESTIC DEMAND. HOW- EVER, A SHIP BOUND FOR ROTTERDAM, CARRYING SEVERAL THOUSAND MT OF NICKEL WAS UNABLE TO SAIL FROM MURMANSK. (1/93 NICKEL NEWS) |
