Comments on the reserve resource information

  • PUBLISHED ESTIMATE OF RESERVES RANGES FROM 25.0MMT TO 30.0MMT. THE LOWER ESTIMATE WAS ENTERED IN TO THE R-MATRIX RECORD. THEIR ALSO ECONOMIC CONCENTRATIONS OF COPPER, LEAD, AND ZINC. TONNAGES AND GRADES WERE NOT PUBLISHED.
  • THIS MINE IS ONE OF SEVERAL IN THE BOCCHEGGIANO AREA.
  • QUANTITY SHOWN IS IN SITU RESOURCE; RECOVERABLE AMOUNT IS ESTIMATED TO BE 24938000 MT AT 39.05% S (WHICH INCLUDES 5% DILUTION), AT 75% PROBABILITY. THIS SAME RESOURCE WAS USED BY MAFO IN THE 1984 PROPERTY EVALUATION FOR THE WORLD SULFUR STUDY. A RECOVERY OF 95% WAS USED, ALONG WITH THE 5% ORE DILUTION, THIS GAVE A RECOVERABLE TONNAGE OF 25.0MMT. THE FE GRADE WAS ADDED IN 1991, SINTER IS RECOVERED AFTER ORE ROASTING, AND USED AS FEED FOR IRON PELLET PRODUCTION.

Comments on other economic factors

  • PRODUCTION AT CAMPIANO IS EXPECTED TO INCREASE BY THE AMOUNT THAT NICCIOLETA DECREASES IN ORDER TO SATISFY REQUIREMENTS FOR THE MILL AT SCARLINO. (TO PRODUCE 1200000MT ACID/YR)

General comments

Subject category Comment text
Deposit THESE COMMENTS ARE FROM A PREVIOUS DATA BASE ENTRY. PYRITE ORE IS CRUSHED AND CONVERTED INTO SULFURIC ACID AT A PLANT IN SCARLINO, ITALY (NEAR FOLLONICA). IRON PELLETS (66% FE) ARE ALSO PRODUCED: NEARLY ONE-HALF MT/MT FEED. PLANT RECEIVES ORE FROM CAMPIANO AND NICCIOLETA. FUTURE PLANS CALL FOR INCREASING SCARLINO PLANT ACID OUTPUT, PRODUCING IRON SPONGE (92% FE) AND RECOVERING PB & ZN. ACID INCREASE EXPECTED TO BE ABOUT 30% OVER 1980 OUTPUT AND COMPLETED FOR 1983 MINE OUTPUT.
