THE MASSIF INTRUDES INTO MIGMATITES OF PRECAMBRIAN AGE OF THE MANGORO GRAPHITIC SYSTEM.

Deposit PREVIOUSLY EVALUATED 9/82 BY BOYLE TWO AREAS-AMBATOVY DOME AND NEARBY ANALAMAY DOME WERE INVEST -IGATED IN EARLY 1960 FOR IRON (UPPER FERRUGINOUS SECTION). SERIES OF PITS DUG (3 SMALL AREAS WITH PITS ON 20-40 M GRIDS GAVE COMPOSITE OF 0.97%NI, 0.045% CO AND 1.53% CR)- IN THE SUPERFICIAL ZONE(0.5 TO 1.0 M) IN LATERITIC CLAYS OUTSIDE THE FERRUGINOUS SHIELD. SEVERAL DRILL HOLES PUT DOWN IN THE CLAYS TO A DEPTH OF 15 M. IN 1974- METALS SOURCEBOOK SAID THAT A CONSORTIUM OF THE 4 COMPANIES CODED AS OWNERS WERE EVALUATING THE NI DEPOS- ITS NEAR MORAMANGA. AT THIS TIME RESERVES WERE SAID TO BE 120,000,000 TONS AT 1.2% NI.
