Comments on the geologic information

  • PADDINGTON GOLD MINERALIZATION OCCURS PRINCIPALLY WITHIN A GRANOPHYRIC QUARTZ DOLERITE WHICH INTRUDES AND CROSSCUTS A BASIC VOLCANIC UNIT, THE PADDINGTON VOLCANICS. THE ORE ZONE IS FLANKED TO THE WEST BY ACIDIC AND PELITIC METASEDIMENTS OF THE BLACK FLAG BEDS AND TO THE EAST BY A THICK VARIED SEQUENCE OF ALTERED MAFICS, ULTRAMAFICS, AND METASEDIMENTS. A SURFACE DEPLETION EFFECT IS EVIDENT IN THE UPPER 25 METERS BUT BELOW THIS, TO A DEPTH OF 60 METERS, A ZONE OF SIGNIFICANT SUPERGENE ENRICHMENT IS ENCOUNTERED WITH GRADES OF AROUND 4 G/MT AU. BENEATH THE SUPERGENE ENRICHMENT ZONE LIES A FRESH PRIMARY ORE, WHICH HAS BEEN PROVED TO A DEPTH OF 180 METERS. THE OREBODY, WHICH IS UP TO 60 METERS WIDE IN THE SUPERGENE ZONE AND AROUND 35 TO 40 METERS WIDE IN THE PRIMARY ZONE, IS OPEN TO DEPTH AND HAS BEEN SHOWN TO PERSIST TO DEPTHS OF AT LEAST 220 METERS.
