Comments on the geologic information

  • HEMATITE-GOETHITE ORE IS DEVELOPED IN THE IRON FORMATION BY THE ENRICHMENT OF THE JASPILITE BY CIRCULATING GROUND WATER. THIS IS APPARENTLY ACCOMPLIHED BY SOLUTION AND REMOVAL OF SILICA AND CARBONATES, THE OXIDATION OF MAGNETITE TO HEMATITE (AS MARTITE) AND DEPOSITION OF ADDITIONAL IRON AS GOETHITE. THE IRON FORMATION IS LAMINATED TO THIN-BEDDED AND CONSISTS ESSENTIALLY OF QUARTZ AND MAGNETITE WITH LESSER BUT SIGNIFICANT CARBONATE MINERALS. NEAR SURFACE WEATHERING IS CHARACTERIZED BY THE FORMATION OF HEMATITE AND GEOTHITE, AND ENRICHMENT OF THE ROCK IN IRON RELATIVE TO SILICA. REGIONALLY, THE FOLDING OF THE ROCKS IS SLIGHT TO MODERATE
