Deposit USING OPEN PIT METHODS, PRODUCTION FROM MID-1964 TO 1972 WAS FOCUSED ON THE BEMANEVIKA OREBODY. IN 1972, MINING MOVED TO THE ANKAZATOLANA OREBODY 2KM AWAY, BECAUSE OF HIGH STRIPPING RATIOS AND INCREASING AMOUNTS OF GANGUE. THE CHROMITE OF THE ANDRIAMENA DEPOSIT OCCURS IN PYROXENITIC LENSES INTERCALATED WITH GNEISS, LENSES WITH TALC SCHIST S, AND INTERSTRATIFIED LENSES THIS LIST IS REPRESENTATIVE OF THE RESERVES, AND CHARACTER- ISTICS OF THE ANDRIAMENA (ANKAZATOLANA) DEPOSIT. HOWEVER , THE LIST REALLY IS REPRESENTATIVE OF THE BEMANEVIKA MINE AND THE ANKAZATOLA MINE (THE RESERVE AND CHARATERISTIC INFORMATION IS COMBINED-OR THE SAME). THERE ARE PLANS TO DEEPEN THE 100.M PIT TO A DEPTH OF 200.M. THE BENCHES ARE AT ID M INTERVALS. THE Q-RESERVES DATA WAS DERIVED FROM DIMENSIONAL INFORMATION THE RESERVES WERE PROVEN BY 12,000 METERS OF EXPLORATORY DRILLING THE ANDRIAMENA AREA IS 180 NAUTICAL MILES NORTH OF TANARIOE, ENCOMPASSES A 50(N-S) X 30 (E-W) KM AREA, CONTAINES 300 CHROMITE LENSES OR ELUVIAL DEPOSITS WHICH CAN BE GROUPED INTO 10 OR 12 "BANDS". THE AVERAGE PHOSPHATE CONTENT IS 70-150 PPM.
