Economic information

Comments on the geologic information

  • Geologic Description = Pyrite-bearing rhyolite dikes and sulfide-bearing quartz veins cut Jurassic volcanic and sedimentary rocks on the ridges north of Kisarilik Lake (Frost, 1990; Box and others, 1993). Rock samples from this large, red-weathering area, contain up to 0.41 ppm Au, 1.5 ppm Ag, 7,000 ppm As, and 100 ppm Sb (Frost, 1990; Frost and others, 1992).
  • Age = Late Cretaceous or Early Tertiary ; postdates Jurassic host rocks and is probably related to the Upper Cretaceous/Lower Tertiary suite of intermediate to felsic intrusive rocks in the region (Box and others, 1993).
