Comments on the geologic information

  • Geologic Description = Alluvial deposits along Dead Creek contain clasts of slate, graywacke, phyllite, greenstone, and andalusite schist derived from the underlying Upper Cretaceous Valdez Group (Nelson and others, 1984; Jansons and others, 1984). Five 0.1-cubic-yard samples contained 0.28 ppm to 0.0007 oz Au/cubic yard and 1% garnet in the concentrate (Jansons and others, 1984).
  • Age = Holocene.
