Economic information

Comments on the geologic information

  • Geologic Description = Harrington (1921, p. 221) reported that some gold placer mining had been done on Trail Creek before 1919. This mining is assumed to have occurred along the segment of Trail Creek between Butte Creek (GO033) and Kowkow Creek (GO031), two significant gold producers in this non-glaciated part of the Faro Creek drainage. No other information is available for this deposit. Uplands in the Trail Creek drainage are underlain by Paleozoic and Mesozoic sedimentary and volcanic rocks intruded by Jurassic mafic and ultramafic plutons (Hoare and Coonrad, 1978).
  • Age = Quaternary.
