Relative position This occurrence is at an elevation of about 3,600 feet, on the southeast flank of the northwest end of the Reindeer Hills. The map site is in the NW1/4 of sec. 27, T. 17 S., R. 6 W., of the Fairbanks Meridian. The location is accurate to within 1500 feet. This is location 10 of Clark and Cobb (1972).

Comments on the geologic information

  • Geologic Description = The area of this occurrence is underlain by a Cretaceous melange comprising tectonic blocks of Paleozoic and upper Mesozoic cherty tuff, chert, argillite, and fine-grained volcanic sandstone, in a matrix of argillite, slate, shale, and graywacke (Wilson and others, 1998). The deposit is described only as a gold-rich occurrence (Berg and Cobb, 1967).
  • Age = Cretaceous or younger, mineralization is hosted in Cretaceous metasediments.
