Relative position This occurrence is at the head of an unnamed southeast tributary to the Swift River. It is at an elevation of about 3,350 feet, 1.7 miles northwest of peak 7646. The map site is in the NW1/4 section 27, T 16 N, R 27 W, of the Seward Meridian. This is locality 2 of Cobb (1972 [MF 412]; 1976 [OF 76-485]). The location is probably accurate to within a quarter of a mile.

Comments on the geologic information

  • Geologic Description = Reed and Anderson (1969) reported that biotite granite of the Tired Pup pluton contains abundant accessory allanite and monazite and/or xenotime. The Tired Pup pluton is a Lower Tertiary pluton of the Alaska-Aleution Range batholith (Reed and Lanphere, 1973).
  • Age = Early Tertiary. Several K-Ar ages from the Tired Pup pluton are about 55 to 60 Ma in age (Reed and Lanphere, 1973).
