Relative position This occurrence is on the east side of upper Kupreanof Peninsula. The map site is at an elevation of 1,500 feet, just east of the midpoint of the boundary between secs. 5 and 32, T. 50 and 51 S., R. 66 W., of the Seward Meridian. It is referred to as SBRGX-49 in Wilson and others (1988, locality 23). The location is accurate to within 1 mile.

Comments on the geologic information

  • Geologic Description = This occurrence is volcanic rocks of the Eocene to Oligocene Meshik Formation (Wilson and others, 1995). At the site, an olivine basalt dike cuts tuff and altered and mineralized dacite (Wilson and others, 1988). A rock sample collected by the U.S. Geological Survey was reported to be anomalous in arsenic and lead (Wilson and others, 1988). The alteration and mineralization are not described.
  • Age = Eocene or younger.
