Comments on the geologic information

  • Geologic Description = Smith (1909) reports that mining took place on this creek before 1908. The small tributaries to Telegram Creek were all placer mined by small-scale methods in the early history of the Iron Creek area. The gravels are probably thin, locally derived, and lay on lower Paleozoic metasedimentary rocks that comprise the bedrock in the area (Till and others, 1986).
  • Age = Quaternary.
