Economic information

Comments on the geologic information

  • Geologic Description = Sulfide-bearing quartz veins a few inches wide occur in weakly metamorphosed schist-phyllite of original sedimentary and volcanic origin. The rocks belong to the Yakutat group. A representative sample of quartz vein material collected by MacKevett and Plafker (1970) contained anomalous amounts of gold, cobalt, and copper.
  • Age = Tertiary

General comments

Subject category Comment text
Deposit Model Name = Low-sulfide Au-quartz veins (Cox and Singer, 1986; model 36a)
Deposit Other Comments = MacKevett and Plafker (1970, sample number 67APr-34A) reported 0.08 ppm gold, 200 ppm cobalt, and 300 ppm copper in a grab sample of a quartz vein, chosen as representative of numerous quartz veins found at and near this location. Data on the occurrence are given in Cobb (1979).
