The site is in sec. 6, T. 22 S., R. 1 E., of the Fairbanks Meridian. The location is accurate to within 1000 feet. This is location 37 of Clark and Cobb (1972).

Comments on the geologic information

  • Geologic Description = This occurrence is hosted in Middle Triassic to Upper Pennsylvanian metasedimentary rocks, cut by numerous diabasic and gabbroic dikes and sills (Wilson and others, 1998). The deposit consists of copper sulfides disseminated in the mafic units, and of magnetite along fault zones separating limestone and argillite. The sulfide minerals are bornite, chalcopyrite, and pyrite. Malachite and azurite occur in cross-cutting carbonate veins. Some of the sulfide minerals probably are syngenetic with emplacement of their Upper Paleozoic or Triassic mafic hostrocks. The bornite may represent subsequent supergene enrichment.
