Comments on other economic factors

  • There was unknown but small amount of historic production from the mine in the 1930s.In 1998, reserves were reported to be 130,000 to 140,000 oz Au proven, plus 300,000 oz Au indicated.

Comments on development

  • The historic Winnemucca Mountain mine was owned by Gus and Ab Rogers from at least 1937 through 1945. The ore shipped from the mine during this period had a high iron content, and was shipped primarily for use as flux. The mine area has been prospected sporadically since that time as a precious metals prospect.
In 1997, Anvil Resources announced delay of a two-phase drilling program scheduled for the Winnemucca Mountain gold property while it sought additional funding or a joint venture partner. Extensive earlier exploration on the property proved up 130,000 to 140,000 oz of gold in the main stockwork zone with several other potential zones targeted for drill testing. In 1987 in the same area, Pallaum Minerals announced signing of an option to acquire what they called the ?W property? , where earlier drilling identified disseminated gold in silicified sediments and in quartz/ carbonate veining (Pallaum Minerals press release, 4/16/97). In 1998, Pallaum began a preliminary exploration program on the property and planned drilling in the latter part of the year. The work centered on an area of gold mineralization that graded 0.04 opt gold over 100 feet. Pallaum Minerals was subsequently evaluating potential joint venture opportunities.
