Comments on development

  • In 2002 Golconda acquired an 80% interest in the 108-claim (2,160-acre) South Monitor property claims. The property covers the southern extension of the Midway gold property structure and is underlain by hydrothermally altered Tertiary tuffaceous sediments and rhyolitic domes, which cover an area of about 1 mile by 1.5 km. Disseminated gold mineralization in the plus 0.020 opt Au range occurs in two larger zones and has been encountered in drilling to a depth of 640 feet. Targets to delineate possible mineable gold deposits are zones of high-grade veining and the contact of these veins with the underlying Paleozoic limestone, which is projected to occur at a depth of about 1,800 feet.
A total of 96 holes were drilled on the property prior to Golconda?s involvement
Golconda drilled a total of 31 holes which encountered widespread gold mineralization and proved that the gold continued at least to a depth of 700 feet. Golconda found a strong bonanza vein type feeder zone in Tertiary Tuff in the southeast part of the claims. The zone is barren at surface. The zone seems to be about 400 ft wide and can be traced for about 3500 ft along strike. It is characterized by strong potassic alteration. It has been intersected by two holes only. The one hole intersected 120 ft of 0.115 oz gold/ton. Several holes were terminated in the overlying clay blanket.

In the same district area, Golconda Resources staked the Monitor Flats property in November 2002. The 27 claims (540
acres) are covered by sand and gravel except for two small hills, each about 150 feet in diameter, about 3,000 feet apart. The Tertiary volcanic rocks exposed in these hills are hydrothermally altered and contain anomalous gold, arsenic, and mercury values. The exploration target on this claim group is high-grade Carlin-type gold mineralization in the underlying Ordovician limestone, which is projected to occur at a depth of about 200 feet.
