Economic information

Comments on the geologic information

  • The deposit is a complex, mineralized assemblage of veins, veinlets, stockworks, mantos and disseminatedsulphides of the general porphyry copper type. It shows well developed concentric silicate alteration and metal zoning, with a central potassic zone with secondary biotite, quartz, and pyrite, surrounded by a phyllic zone with quartz and sericite. It is rougly vertical and cylindrical, but with a complex detailed shape. A large breccia pipe developed contemporaneously with the copper mineralization, overprinting some of the mineral relationships. Chalcocite distribution is not typical for a porphyry copper deposit, as primary chalcopyrite remains within the chalcicite blanket to a depth of at least 250 m.
