Comments on the production information

  • Sand-gravel is dragline mined from one of the many thin, ~ 4 foot, terrace deposits which cap low knolls in the area. The operation is intermittent - at rate of about 25,000 tons a year at present time. Sand-gravel is trucked 6 miles to washing plant. The products, washed sand and gravel, are used mostly as concrete aggegate. Some pit-run gravel is used as road material. All products are marketed locally.

    Past production of washing plant is estimated to be 50,000 tons. Reserves in the working area are inferred to be several million tons.

    The examination is made in connection with the Arkansas-White-Red (AWR) Basins Mineral Survey.
