Record type Site
Current site name Kasaria/Luansobe

Comments on the site identification

  • In the Mufulira Mining License area. This is a Cox entry that is repeated by Selley and others (2005). We need to confirm the location and existence of a resource at this property. Selley and others (2005) shows Kasaria as a distinct orebody between Luansobe and Mufulira. Annels (1984) shows a figure similar to Selley except that Kasaria and Luansobe are switched with Luansobe between Kasaria and Mufulira.

Deposit Email from Jon Woodhead to Mike Zientek on 3/16/10: "The Luansobe deposit referred to in more recent documents (e.g. MCM - Mopani Copper Mines) is located on the Zam/DRC border. It was previously referred to as Kasaria. The resource is either as stated in Freeman (1988) for Kasaria, i.e. "more than 20Mt(21.5Mt) @ 2.51% Cu" or "5.8Mt @ 2.57% Cu", or alternatively the larger resource number calculated by MCM in 2000. The latter (~65Mt) was either a press release or a figure provided directly during visit to Mufulira - I will try to confirm this. The MCM oxide resource is part of this."
