Comments on the site identification

  • Not to be confused with Bear Creek uranium deposits about 6 miles east. That one is a surface deposit. This Bear Creek is a part of Allemand Ross and is part of a proposed ISR mine.
  • From www.sedar.com website for Energy Metals Corp, is a March 26, 2007 News Release stating that "the Barge Project encompasses the former Rocky Mountain Energy-Mono Power Bear Creek Project (Bear Creek Uranium) which mined 5.8 million pounds of uranium from open pit operations between 1975 and 1985."

Economic information

Comments on the ore body information

  • From Technical Report, p. 8 of 102:
The exploration activities carried out by Conoco have discovered a number of roll-front uranium deposits on the Sand Draw property. The known deposits occur in an area that measures approximately 2 miles by 2 miles (3.5 kilometres by 3.5 kilometres). The uranium mineralization is hosted in a number of individual sandstone units that occur at depths of approximately 1,029 to 1,444 feet (338 to 474 metres) from the surface. The largest deposit on the Sand Draw property has a strike length of approximately 0.6 miles (1 kilometre), a width of approximately 850 feet (250 metres) and a vertical dimension of approximately 7 feet (2.3 metres). In general terms, these deposits have crescent-shaped cross sectional outlines, and are either flat lying or plunge gently northeast, towards the centre of the Powder River Basin. The historical drilling has also identified a number of roll fronts and uranium concentrations in the Bear Creek area. The longest roll-front is interpreted to have a strike length of approximately 7,000 feet (2,100 metres), and a number of drill holes have reportedly intersected significant uranium mineralization at similar depths to that discovered at Sand Draw.

Comments on the reserve resource information

  • www.wise-uranium.org/uousawy.html gives indicated resources of 373 t U and inferred 1776 t U.
  • Frpm Technical Report, p. 7 of 102:
As of 1988, it was estimated that 970,000 pounds of recoverable uranium (U3O8) on the Sand Draw claim block could be placed in an indicated resource category and 3,790,000 pounds of recoverable uranium could be placed in an inferred category. A total of 827,700 pounds of recoverable uranium were estimated to be present on the Bear Creek claim block in 1988, all of which was in the inferred category. A mining recovery factor of 70% was applied in estimating the pounds of recoverable uranium so that the in-situ amounts were 1,390,000 pounds in the indicated category and 5,400,000 pounds in the inferred category on the Sand Draw block, and 1,180,000 pounds in the inferred category on the Bear Creek claim block.

General From Technical Report, p. 6 of 102:
The Sand Draw property comprises a number of contiguous claim blocks consisting of an agreement with the Ogalalla Ranch Trust (also known as the Spearhead Ranch) effective as of March 15, 2005, and an agreement with Spearhead Land and Livestock, LP, dated 11 July, 2005 (also known as the Darby Ranch). Approximately 857 acres of mineral rights and 2,139 acres of surface rights are covered by the Ogalalla-Spearhead agreement. The Spearhead-Darby property comprises approximately 626 acres under a uranium and mineral lease and surface and damage agreement. In addition, a total of 110 lode (mineral) claims (approximately 2,200 acres) are controlled by High Plains. These form the land holdings at the Sand Draw property. There are also 800 acres of claims on Federal surface and Federal minerals for a total of 44 claims.

The Bear Creek property comprises a total of approximately 1,920 acres of mineral rights, for which a lease is under negotiation, and 875 acres of located lands (mineral rights) for a total of 2,796.14 acres, all covered by a surface agreement. The property contains 63 unpatented lode mining claims (approximately 1,260 acres) that cover those mineral rights below splitfee lands and one surface rights agreement between High Plains and the Donna S. Allemand Family Trust.
