MRDS ID W026850
Record type District
Current site name Tapaje Creek District

Geographic coordinates

Geographic coordinates: -55.38254, 2.80144 (WGS84)
Relative position IN VIEW OF DISTANCE OF DEPOSITS FROM POSSIBLE PORTS OF SHIPMENT, SURIMAM GEOLOGICAL AND MINING SERVICE BELIEVES THE EXISTENCE OF LARGE RESOURCES (OF THE ORDER OF 150-200 MILLION TONS) WOULD HAVE TO BE PROVED BEFORE ANY LARGE PROJECT COULD BE EMBARKED UPON, EVEN ONE YIELDING AN ANNUAL ORE PRODUCTION OF 5 MILLION TONS. SUCH A TONNAGE ADDED TO GROWING EXPORTS OF BAUXITE AND ALUMINA WOULD JUSTIFY IMPROVING PORT FACILITIES TO ACCOMMODATE LARGE VESSELS.
