  • TUNNELS; ACCESS TUNNEL 1075 FT. LONG TRAVERSES THE STRIKE OF THE VEINS; VEIN HAS BEEN EXPLORED BY MANY INCLINED BOREHOLES AND CORE DRILLING. IN 1966 SHRINKAGE STOPING WAS PLANNED, WITH 6000 FT. OF ADDITIONAL WORKINGS INCLUDING 2 LOWER LEVELS CONNECTED TO ADIT LEVEL BY A 400-FT. WINZE. A MILL WAS PLANNED.

  • ACQUIRED IN 1960'S BY SUNSHINE MINING CO. (2/3 INTEREST) AND MIDCONTINENT URANIUM CO. (1/3 INTEREST). CONSTRUCTION OF A 550 TON PER DAY MILL BEGAN IN MAY, 1981. OPENING OF THE MILL IS SLATED FOR MARCH, 1982, EXPECTED TO EMPLOY 60 PERSONS AT MINE AND MILL. IN 1963, MID-COINENT URANIUM CO. ACQUIRED LEASES AND OPTIONS ON THE MOHAWK AND SANGER MINES; AND STAKED THE CLIFF GROUP OF 28 CLAIMS COVERING THE INTERVENING GROUND BETWEEN THE 16 TO 1 AND MOHAWK PROPERTY. THE GROUP OF CLAIMS OWNED OR CONTROLLED BY MID-CONTINENT IN 1964 FORMED A CONTIGUOUS GROUP OF 67 CLAIMS FROM THE 16 TO 1 PROPERTY TO THE MOHAWK AND SANGER PROPERTIES.

Deposit DISCOVERER, OLOF OLSON COMPLETED MOST OF THE RELATIVELY SHALLOW WORKINGS ON THE VEIN PRIOR TO 1940. IN 1961 AND 1962, CALLAHAN MINING CO., UNDER LEASE AND OPTION, COMPLETED 5 DIAMOND DRILL HOLES TO TEST THE VEIN STRUCTURE AT DEPTH UP TO 1000 FT. DOWN.
